Yes, she did it again!!!!!!!  

Sofia "BUBU" Amarante brought home another medal from the IBJJF World BJJ Championship. After defeating 3 opponents in her first day, Sofia went to the final against BJJ Legend
Leticia Ribeiro, were she lost by points. It was the second time that Sofia faced Leticia in a final match, on her first time Sofia defeated Leticia on the 2009 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship and came home with the gold. Now is 1x1, let’s see who brings the gold next time.

In order to prepare our students for the Worlds 2010, UFC Fighter and BJJ Black belt Thiago Silva and his wife BJJ Black belt Thaysa Kamiji stoped by to assist our fighters competing at the Worlds 2010 in Long Beach, California. With very good technique and amazing sweeps Thiago and Thaysa, are defiinitivly helping our botton game for the mundials.

The classes are Tuesdays and Thurdays at 6:30 PM, and is open to all SFFC, Fight Sports and Brotherhood Students competing at this years Mundial.

We are finaly done!!!! after 2 weeks of a lot of painting and fixing, The new SFFC training center is finaly open.

SFFC staff and students are very exited with the new facility, with new mats, boxing & weight training area, front desk/waiting area (yes we have a PS3!!!!) and a shower!!!

with a bigger facility, our plans for 2010 are to double the amount of students and to create our BJJ/MMA competition team.

Many considerate the match a mix match or that the fight was going to be a walk in the park, But at the end Sofia “BUBU” Amarante, proved that to win in Jiu Jitsu, you don’t need to Carry a famous last name or represent a traditional school. With an impressive win over BJJ Legend Leticia Ribeiro at the Finals, Sofia is now a World Champion!!! sofia's Husband Felipe Amarante came in 3rd place, bringing another medal for SFFC!!!

Sofia’s next step is trying to heal all injuries and getting ready for the Abu Dhabi Pro Trials 2010 in Boca Raton, Fl

Once again, great job for all students that competed at the Grapplers Quest event last Saturday. (7 x 1st Places and 1 3rd )

Special congrats to our Kids team: Chris Zettek, Stephanie Guerra and Angel Lebron, that came home with 5 x 1st Places.

Sofia " BUBU " Amarante once again with 114Lbs dominated the girls division, submiting all the girls with arm bars!!!!

Now back to training, looking foward to the IC09 World Championship.

Congratulations to all students that competed on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Championships, last Saturday in Long Beach, CA.

Sofia " BUBU " Amarante won her first world's, proving that one it comes to her weight division, she is in another level!!! Also congrats to Felipe "The Machine" Amarante who with all his injuries lost in the quarter finals, but was able to finish 2 of his opponents with triangle chokes. SFFC Head instructor Saul Alencar presented Felipe and Sofia with their Brown belt now is back to training!!! Because from now on it only gets harder!!!!!!!
